PERRY NUCLEAR POWER PLANT READINESS FOR NRC HUMAN PERFORMANCE CORRECTIVE ACTION INSPECTION
Dear Mr. Bezilla:
In our Perry Nuclear Power Plant (PNPP) Annual Assessment Letter, dated March 4, 2011, (ADAMS Accession Number ML110620306), we stated that, prior to the 2011 Middle-of-Cycle assessment, the NRC would conduct an inspection of the corrective actions you had completed to address the long-standing, human performance substantive cross-cutting issue at Perry Nuclear Power Plant. The inspection would use NRC Inspection Procedure 92702, Followup on Corrective Actions for Violations and Deviations, as guidance. In your letter of June 7, 2011, you indicated that PNPP was not prepared for the inspection, and requested that we perform the inspection later in calendar year 2011. We acknowledged your request on June 30, 2011, (ADAMS Accession Number ML111810868) and asked you to provide us by October 1, 2011, a statement of your readiness for that inspection. Our request was re-iterated in our Perry Nuclear Power Plant (PNPP) Middle-of-Cycle Assessment Letter, dated September 1, 2011, (ADAMS Accession Number ML112440084).
This letter acknowledges receipt of your September 30, 2011, letter, in which you confirm PNPP staffs readiness for our inspection of the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to address the long-standing human performance substantive cross-cutting issue at the PNPP.
Our present plan, which has been coordinated with members of your staff, is to conduct the onsite portion of the inspection during the week of December 5, 2011. We separately transmitted a request for documents to assist us in preparation for that inspection.
