SUMMARY

OF SEPTEMBER 26, 2011, MEETING WITH EXELON GENERATION COMPANY, LLC, TO DISCUSS THE LASALLE COUNTY STATION, UNIT 2, SPENT FUEL POOL NEUTRON ABSORBERS INSERTS (TAC NO. ME6835)

On September 26, 2011, a Category 1 conference call public meeting was held among the U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon, the licensee) at NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the details regarding the alternative approach proposed by Exelon submitted to the NRC by letter dated September 21, 2011 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML112650186), to address the concerns of crediting BORAFLEX' for the LaSalle County Station (LSCS), Unit 2, spent fuel pool configuration (SFP).

The licensee's proposal consists of:

(a) continuing the current NETCO-SNAP-IN inserts installation and SFP reconfiguration activities to meet license condition 2.C.(31) by October 28,2011; (b) ensuring that no fuel is stored in the SFP storage rack cells without NETCO-SNAP-IN inserts in the LSCS, Unit 2, SFP after March 31,2012; and (c) accelerating the NETCO-SNAP-IN inserts installation campaign by completing loading all accessible storage rack cells in the LSCS, Unit 2, SPF with NETCO-SNAP-IN inserts no later than December 31, 2012.

During the meeting, the NRC staff and Exelon discussed the proposed alternatives and the restrictions of License Conditions 30, 31, and 32 of the LSCS operating license. The licensee informed the NRC staff that a license amendment request would be submitted to support their proposal.

Proprietary information was not discussed during the meeting. The public was invited to observe the meeting and one member of the public was in attendance. Public Meeting Feedback forms were not received.
