PVNGS Sociolnformation Needs 09-08-09 (3).doc; DAEC Information Needs 05-15-09.doc Hi Susan, I'm sorry. I saw that you had called the other day. I would have returned your call, but I've been swamped with work. I told Charles that you had contacted me.

I haven't had any time to revisit the Salem and Hope Creek ERs since the acceptance review, so I'm very interested in seeing what you have in the way of data needs. I've attached two recent examples of information needs lists that we submitted for Duane Arnold and Palo Verde prior to site information visits. The core of our data needs list for Salem and Hope Creek should be similar to these lists. Due to the complexity of the review, there are probably some other needs as well. We should talk about our data needs as soon as possible since there isn't much time before the site visit.

I too am looking forward to working with you again.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, jeff Jeffrey Rikhoff Senior Environmental Scientist Environmental Review Branch Division of License Renewal, NRR U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 301/415-1090 Jeffrey. We are proceeding with the pre-Audit draft of the land use and socioeconomics sections of the Salem and Hope Creek SEIS. No specific issues have come up yet, but we do have some data needs. I wanted to se~f you have any specific needs or concerns regarding the project, in particular pertaining to the Site Audit r month.'I/

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station Environmental Justice and Socioeconomics Information Needs September, 2009 Environmental Justice To help address the provisions of Section 4-4 "Subsistence Consumption of Fish and Wildlife" in Executive Order 12898, the following information is needed to assist the NRC in its environmental justice review:

1. Information about any observed subsistence consumption behavior patterns-specifically fish and wildlife consumption-by minority and low-income populations in the vicinity of PVNGS. This subsistence consumption behavior could consist of hunting, fishing, and trapping of game animals and any other general food gathering activities (e.g., collecting nuts, berries, and other plant material) conducted by minority and low-income individuals in the vicinity of PVNGS.
2. Information about current or past wildlife sampling and testing of game animals such as deer, squirrel, turkey, pheasant, duck, fish and other game birds and animals that may have been conducted in the vicinity of PVNGS. Wildlife sampling and testing may have been conducted before, during, and after plant construction and in the early days of plant operation, but was discontinued after determining that tissue samples consistently showed no significant or measurable radiological impact on the environment from plant operations.

Socioeconomics The following information is needed to assist the NRC in its socioeconomic impact review:

1. If available, provide 2007 and 2008 data on 1) total tax revenues in Maricopa County,
2) total property taxes paid by all PVNGS owners in Maricopa County (i.e. an update of Table 2-4).
2. Please provide the distribution of PVNGS local property taxes to the various jurisdictions in Maricopa County listed in paragraph 2, page 2-19.
3. If available, provide recent information on the total number of PVNGS permanent (employed for more than one year), on-site employees and the residential distribution of permanent, on-site employees by county.
4. In addition to property tax payment information presented in Section 2.7 of the ER, please describe any other major annual support payments, one-time payments, and other forms of non-tax compensation (if any) provided to local organizations, communities, and jurisdictions (e.g., county, municipality, townships, villages, incorporated places, and school districts) on behalf of PVNGS.
5. Also, please provide information about any changes in assessed property value or any other recent or anticipated payment adjustments that could result in notable increases or decreases in tax or other payments.
6. Please provide information on any studies that have quantified, or considered, the impact of noise from PVNGS facilities at various locations offsite.
7. Please provide data on 1) the height of stacks, cooling towers, and other plant buildings, and 2) on the visibility of plant facilities and cooling tower plumes from various off-site locations.
