Subject:

Notification: Salem-Hope Creek License Renewal Scoping Meeting Categories: Salem Hope Creek Mr. Lawrence Slavitter, The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received a license renewal application (LRA) from Public Service Enterprise Group Nuclear, LLC (PSEG Nuclear) and Exelon Generation Company, LLC (EGC), dated August 18, 2009, for the renewal of the operating licenses for the Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, and Hope Creek Generating Station. The NRC will be hosting public scoping meetings to discuss the license renewal and environmental scoping process for the LRA review. These meetings will provide members of the public with the opportunity to provide comments regarding environmental issues that the NRC should consider during its review.

The two identical meetings will be held on November 5, 2009 at the Salem County Emergency Services Building in Woodstown, New Jersey. The Meetings will be held from: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Both meetings will be preceded by an informal "open house" beginning one hour prior to each meeting. The open house will provide members of the public with an opportunity to talk informally with NRC staff. Members of the public may register to present oral comments at the meetings by contacting Charles Eccleston at 1-800-368-5642, extension 8537, or by e-mail at Charles.Ecclestonanrc..ov by Monday, November 2, 2009. Those who wish to make comments may also register within 15 minutes of the start of each meeting. Individual oral comments may be limited by the time available, depending on the number of persons who register.

This e-mail notice will be followed up with a written notification inviting you to participate in the public scoping process for the proposed license renewal project.

Sincerely, Charles Eccleston, Environmental Project Manager Division of License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency
