Inspection Program Updates
- Completed the Mid-cycle assessment review
- Results will be issued in a September 1,2011 letter to TVA
- For the 12 month assessment period identified 12 Severity Level IV violation
- Expended over 17,000 inspection related hours
- Increased size of Watts Bar 2 construction projects branch in Region 2; nine inspectors assigned to project
- 33 different regional inspectors during the assessment period

Status of Inspection Program
- Over 500 construction inspection items in the Inspection Planning and Scheduling (IP&S)
- Completed inspections for 111 IP&S items
- Many of the remaining IP&S items have y
g been inspected, but require additional effort to close
Status of Inspection Program Recently Completed Team Inspections:
- Independent Design Verification Program
- Problem Identification and Resolution
- Commercial Grade Dedication Started Pre-Operational testing inspections (IMC 2513); these inspections will increase as TVA completes construction on more safety systems
- NRC Commission created Japan Task Force (JTF)
- JTF presented its report to the Commission on July 19, 2011, proposing 12 recommendations
- The Commission has asked NRC staff for a series of papers to:
NRC response to Fukushima Dai-ichi accident
- 1. Outline the JTF recommendations that should be implemented immediately (Sept. 9, 2011)
- 2. Prioritize JTF recommendations (Oct. 3, 2011)
- 3. Consider JTF broadest recommendation to revise NRC regulatory approach (within 18 months)
