ROBINSON STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NO. 2 DOCKET NO. 50-261/LICENSE NO. DPR-23 WITHDRAWAL OF REACTOR VESSEL INTERNALS AGING MANAGEMENT PROGRAM INSPECTION PLAN (TAC NO. ME2362)
Ladies and Gentlemen:
On September 24, 2009, Carolina Power and Light Company (CP&L), the licensee of Robinson Nuclear Plant, submitted for review and approval an aging management program (AMP) for the reactor vessel internals (RVI) to comply with its license renewal commitment. The Materials Reliability Program 227 (MRP-227) report, "Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) Internals Inspection and Evaluation Guidelines," and its supporting reports were used as technical bases for developing the AMP for RNP. On June 22, 2011, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff issued its final safety evaluation (SE) regarding topical report MRP-227.
CP&L has decided to withdraw the current AMP submittal, dated September 24, 2009, and resubmit a new AMP in accordance with MRP-227-A, the approved version of the topical report. CP&L commits to submit a new AMP no later than October 1, 2012. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact me at (843) 857-1626.
Sincerely, R. Rogalski Supervisor - Licensing/Regulatory Programs RR/psf c:
