A RESOLUTION OF THE CITRUS COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS REQUESTING THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISION RENEW THE NUCLEAR PLANT LICENSE FOR THE NUCLEAR PLANT SITE LOCATED WITHIN CITRUS COUNTY, FLORIDA WHEREAS, the nuclear plant license for the Crystal River nuclear plant site is set to expire in 2016, and WHEREAS, Progress Energy is a vital component to a successful economy in Citrus County, the jobs created due to the nuclear plant location in Crystal River are invaluable to our citizens, and WHEREAS, Progress Energy, as a company, plays an integral role within our community, taking an active role with community organizations and community events, and WHEREAS, Progress Energy is a diligent steward of the property they own, ensuring safety for our citizens has always been an utmost priority, and WHEREAS, the repairs to put the nuclear site, located in Crystal River, Florida, back on-line would not be completed until the year of 2014, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce on this 28th day of June 2011 as follows:
The Board formally asks the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to extend the nuclear plant license for the nuclear power site located in Crystal River, Florida for the term of twenty years from its set expiration date in 2016 so that Progress Energy may make the needed repairs to bring this site back on-line and continue operation within Citrus County.
