Items to discuss with TVA this week

Jason, Based on the information provided on the May 6s letter, I identified the following items and/or follow up questions to discuss with TVA during this week meeting.

Please forward them to TVA, so they can contact the right people and prepare information for our meeting.

Important items:

Discussion of design and operation of the incore instrumentation system for Unit 2 (specifically Wincise)

Differences between Unit 1 and Unit 2 Follow up items based on the 05-06s letter:

1-Need to discuss the differences between TVA document and Bechtel change package in Attachment 4, specifically TVA document seems to indicate the system requirements for the Wincise, but sometimes this document identified how the system works.

Follow up on question 15.

2-Need to define differences between Unit 1 and Unit 2. The information in Attachment 4 is incomplete.

Response to question 1: Pages 60 through 86 are not included. Pages 87 through 104 describe the electrical modifications to Unit 1, but not the modifications to the I&C system.

3-Need TVA to identify how they met regulatory requirements Follow up for question 2.

4-Need equipment EQ report for IITA (this is the part that is safety related).

Response to question 3: TVA provided the environmental and seismic qualification for the Wincises mineral insulated cabling in this delivery. However, still need EMI, Surge, and RFI testing. Also, the SE for AP-1000

2 stated that an analysis was required to demonstrate that over-voltage and surge voltage cannot propagate from the SPS cabinet to the FID and an analysis to demonstrate that even thought the minimum separation for safety and non-safet system is met, the safety related circuits are not degraded.

Need the EQ testing for the IITA.

5-Need software description of the Wincise System.

Follow up for question 4.

6-Attachment 4, page 129, requires the Wincise to perform its required core monitoring functioning at or above 20%. Clarify what is provided in the system (see question 1).

Follow up for question 7.

7-Describe how signal conditioning in the SPP (Wincise cabinet) is performed.

8-Need info to evaluate communication between Wincise and ICS (non-safety related) 9-Need complete FMEA for the Wincise Rossnyev
