Document Control Desk Attachment RC-1 1-0044 Page 1 of 1 ATTACHMENT The following commitment reduction, with a brief justification, was performed in 2010 in accordance with VCSNS's Commitment Reduction Program, which was developed following NEI 99-04 "Guidelines for Managing NRC Commitment Changes":
CR-1 0-00881 Commitment - Disassemble and inspect the Turbine Driven Emergency Feedwater Pump (TDEFP) every 5 years to inspect for internal wear.
Justification for revision - This activity changes the frequency of an internal inspection. It does not impact the function or the performance of the TDEFP to supply feedwater to the steam generators under accident conditions, nor does it change any surveillance testing requirements or acceptance criteria.
Five inspections have been performed over an approximate 25 year period with no indications of wear. The commitment to perform an internal inspection is being retained; the frequency is being extended from 5 to 10 years to be consistent with the motor-driven pumps and to reduce the potential for adversely affecting the TDEFP during maintenance teardown.
