Licensing Actions - Duke MAGNASTOR Loading Campaign Since we last spoke, I have had several discussions internally and with NAC. We would like to proceed as follows:
NAC intends to supplement Amendment 2 with changes to resolve the orthogonal pitch issue (TS 4.1.1 d).
Duke requests that the NRC not process the contamination limit exemption request that was submitted by letter dated 9/16/10.
Duke intends to submit an exemption request following NAC's submittal of the supplement to Amendment 2. This exemption request will incorporate the contamination limit aspect (superseding the 9/16/10 request) as well as incorporate the orthogonal pitch aspect. Approval will be requested in a time frame (TBD) that supports the MAGNASTOR loading campaign schedule. That schedule is currently in the process of being finalized. This exemption, once approved, would apply to all canisters loaded before Amendment 2 is effective.
