INSPECTIONS COMPLETED:

Procedure-Occ. Nos IPE Code Title of Procedure 71111.08 BI Inservice Inspection Activities TI 172 Dissimilar Metal Welds - MRP 139 Scope: The scope of this inspectable area is primarily limited to the reactor coolant system pressure boundary and interfacing system components. This includes RCS Penetration Piping, Reactor Vessel, Steam Generator Tubes, ECCS connections to the RCS, and any Significant Code or Non-Code Repairs.

The ISI Activities to be inspected will be those with high risk priorities [See IP 71111.08], will verify that the program for monitoring degradation of reactor coolant system boundary is effective and will include the non-destructive examination (NDE) activities below:

1) RV Lower Head Penetration Nozzles - Visual Exams: This inspection item is a review of licensees' activities in response to Bulletin 2003-02. One type of exam (visual) and one outage sample.

Also a subset of remote visuals on RV internals as can be scheduled will be witnessed during the inspection weeks. This will be a visual exam sample because TI 2515/152 has been previously completed at Salem Ul.

Planned Samples:

RPV lower head - VT-1 Flux Thimble welds VT-1

2) Steam Generator tubes - Eddy Current and In-situ Pressure Testing
3) RV Closure Head Penetration Nozzles - Head being replaced this outage.
4) RT exams - A subset of the 4 radiograph exams on piping welds will be inspected by review of completed films and exam reports. One type of exam and one sample.

DCP 80041965 will be adding a 4" pressurizer vent valve - plan on reviewing 2 fabrication and 2 installation RT's.

5) The following will be observed or data sheets reviewed during the inspection weeks:

6) Corrective Actions - If inspection items 1 through 6 above do not require or involve three or more examples of the licensee identifying and entering ISI problems into the corrective action program, the inspectors will select a sample to make a set of at least 5 problems associated with inservice inspection. The appropriateness of the corrective actions will be verified JAW Inspection Procedure 71152.
7) Notes: This plan provides 3 types of non-destructive activities.
8) The team will be looking at the boric acid corrosion program at Salem 1 per the guidance of the inspection procedure.
