SUMMARY

OF SEPTEMBER 9,2010, MEETING (TELECONFERENCE) WITH EXELON TO DISCUSS REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING RESIDUAL HEAT REMOVAL SERVICE WATER LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NOS. IVIE3551 AND ME3552)

On September 9,2010, a Category 1 public meeting was held, between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon, the licensee). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a draft request for additional information (RAI) dated August 3, 2010 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML102150337), sent by the NRC staff in response to Exelon's application dated March 19, 2010 (ADAMS Accession No. ML100810151). Exelon's application involves a license amendment request proposing to extend the Technical Specification allowed outage time for the Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, Suppression Pool Cooling (SPC) mode of the Residual Heat Removal system, the Residual Heat Removal Service Water (RHRSW) system, the Emergency Service Water system, and the A.C. Sources - Operating (Emergency Diesel Generators) from 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> to 7 days in order to allow for repairs of the RHRSW system piping.

The licensee and NRC staff discussed each question in detail in terms of what specific information the NRC was requesting. The NRC staff agreed to rework question 9.b such that the load dispatcher contact was made prior to starting the planned maintenance with the understanding that once the piping is cut, the evolution must continue to its completion. In addition, an editorial change was made to question 17 to reflect the correct enclosure in the licensee's application.

No proprietary information was discussed at the meeting. One member of the public was in attendance, from the Bureau of Radiation Protection, Nuclear Safety Division, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. No comments were presented to the NRC staff during the public portion of the meeting. A list of attendees is provided in the Enclosure.
