SUMMARY

OF THE JUNE 15, 2010, OPEN HOUSE PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS NRC ACTIVITIES, NUCLEAR POWER ISSUES, AND THE QUAD CITIES NUCLEAR POWER STATION 2009 END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On June 15, 2010, an open house public meeting was held at the Cordova Civic Center, Cordova Illinois between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Quad Cities Station management and staff. The purpose of the open house meeting was to provide an opportunity for the public to discuss NRC activities, nuclear power issues, and Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station performance for the period of January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2009. The NRC letter and meeting notice for this open house can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML100610491 and ML101390336 respectively. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the Enclosure.

The open house discussed an overview of the NRCs Mission and Strategic Goals, the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), and national ROP results. The NRC discussed other agency regulatory activities such as nuclear security and safeguards, the license renewal process, spent nuclear fuel and independent spent fuel storage installations, radiation safety, new nuclear power plant construction, and licensing activities.

The NRC also provided discussions related to the NRCs assessment of the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station performance, which was documented in the March 3, 2010, End-of-Cycle Assessment Letter (reference ADAMS Accession number ML100610491). As part of this open house, both Exelon and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) were available to address questions and concerns. Slides used to describe the NRC's ROP process and Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station 2009 performance can be found in ADAMS under ML101680082.

Throughout the open house, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of IEMA officials, Exelon officials, and NRC officials.
