- Tatjana, In order to continue with our progress on the Utah license renewal, I am sending this email in advance of our formal correspondence, which will come after we receive your letter.
As we understand from our telecon on Thursday, May 27, you plan to withdraw the request for a power uprate from the Utah license renewal application. As such, this will allow us to review your application in a "streamlined" manner in accordance with our Interim Staff Guidance (a copy is attached). This review process uses NUREG-1537, but limits the "full" NUREG-1537 review to Chapters 4, 13, and 14, and uses previous NRC review as the basis for determination of acceptability for the remaining chapters. As such, we hope to improve the review schedule by a few months.
As discussed on the telephone conference, we need you to provide an updated SAR reflecting the proposed (and current) licensed power level of 100kW.
We also need you to provide responses to the requests for additional information (RAIs) we sent on February 22 with a few modifications due to the power level change.
- 1) RAIs 39 and 60.2 are no longer necessary. Please indicate this in the response.
- 2) RAIs 21.1, 21.2, 45.1, 59.6, 60.1 reference 250kW. Please change 250kW to 100kW for your response to these RAIs.
We would like to maintain the June 22 RAI response schedule, if possible. Let me know if this becomes a challenge or if you need any additional information.
