Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)

Units 1, 2, and 3 Docket Nos. STN 50-528, 50-529, and 50-530 Revision to Commitment Completion Date Associated with Power Uprate, PVNGS Units I and 3 In Reference 1, Arizona Public Service Company (APS) committed to submit a description of the reactor internals inspection program including the inspection plan to the NRC for review and approval within 24 months of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Materials Reliability Program (MRP) final recommendation, or within 5 years from the issuance of the uprated license, whichever comes first. The ERPI MRP Topical Report was issued on January 22, 2009, making the 24 month due date January 22, 2011. The 5 year due date, subsequent to the issuance of Amendment No.

157 for power uprate of Units 1, 2, and 3, is November 16, 2010.

In Reference 2, the NRC accepted for review EPRI MRP Topical Report 1016596, which contains the following mandatory element agreed to by the participants:

ATTN: Document Control Desk U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Revision to Commitment Completion Date Associated with Power Uprate, PVNGS Units 1 and 3 Page 2 Each commercial U.S. PWR unit shall develop and document a PWR reactor internals aging management program (AMP) within thirty-six months following the issuance of MRP-227-Rev 0.

Based on this, the new due date will coincide with the EPRI mandatory element due date of January 22, 2012.

APS has evaluated the commitment change and has determined that it is consistent with internal commitment management procedures. APS makes no further commitments in this correspondence.
