RE: CR3 SIT Status (10 Nov 2009)
Sorry Mark. Let me jus cut and paste it directly to the e-mail. It is as follows:
Mark Lou, George, and I attended the 7:30 status meeting conducted by Paul Fagan. Yesterday two core bores were made between Buttresses #3 and #4, in Panel AA, one in the delaminated area and one in the area of good concrete. An additional core bore may be taken in the same panel today, pending discussions with respect to its necessity for the analysis. Nine core bored holes were examined via boroscope yesterday/last night and that work is scheduled to continue today. CTL technicians continued NDE inside of the Auxiliary and Intermediate Buildings and are scheduled to continue today. Also, NDE between Buttresses #2 and #3 is scheduled to be completed. The platform from which the NDE is being done will then be moved to between Buttresses #3 and #4 to support core boring Wednesday morning. Also, today a core bore in the "doghouse" area (part of the shield wall below the equipment hatch but not part of the containment wall) is scheduled to be taken to support the Root Cause Analysis specialists, yesterday five core bores were completed between Buttresses #3 and #4, including one below the Equipment Hatch, and four (#5, #36, #37, and #49) were visually examined with a boroscope.
Also, yesterday the previously drilled core bore holes on the exterior of the Containment Building were sealed with an inflatable bladder to prevent any water (and chlorides) from entering the hole during the forecast rains from Tropical Storm Ida.
Contracts for survey crews to survey the Containment Building dimensions are expected to be signed today or tomorrow.
