Subject:
Crystal River-High Level Update Bruce, status of efforts @ Crystal River; SIT on the ground gathering information and aligning with licensees efforts. The licensee has formed a separate organization to deal with the containment issue to minimize impact on ongoing efforts at the site with the steam generator replacement. The organization is being led by Gary Miller previous engineering manager at the company and currently assign to the new built of Levy County site. The organization has 4 components;
- 1) A mapping effort to evaluate extent of condition. This effort is being assisted by CTL ( Concrete Test Labs) and they will be using a pulse-echo technique in their efforts. 2) A root cause team that will be staffed with industry experts. Selection of the vendor is ongoing but names like PII ( Dr. chiu ) are in the short list. 3) A team that is collecting all design basis information and relevant requirements. This includes 3-D analysis of containment with vendor support. Vendor selection is schedule for next week. 4) A repair team that is looking at what repair techniques are available in case there needed.
Please let me know if there is a need to brief the 17/18 floors.
