Crystal River Status From PITA on 10/30109:
SGRP Outage Activities: Day 34, 12.5 days behind schedule: No Mode. Both trains of spent fuel cooling are in service. Critical path is installation of the inside lift system. The 'A' steam generator is scheduled to be removed from containment November 1st and the second will be removed couple of days later.
Containment concrete separation SIT: Conference call held yesterday to update the region and various NRR groups on progress of activities and status of other completed reviews.
Additional Information:
During yesterday's SIT conference call, Lou lake (SIT Leader) stated that based on the NDE that was performed the upper end of the containment crack is in the SG opening area. Additional examinations will be done this weekend. So far, no performance deficiency has been identified. All SIT charter activities are in progress with the preliminary completion date around November 20 (Public meeting date). CPNB staff (lead on NDE review) told the SIT that CPNB needs to review the licensee's technical justification of the NDE methods that are used at CR-3.
In addition, the licensee has asked the RII to set up a call on November 5 between the region, the NRR key reviewers, and the licensee. PM will provide the region with the key reviewers and the region will send out an invitation.
Yesterday a Green Ticket was assigned to DORL for Progress Energy Drop-in meeting with the commissioners on November 10. Trace Orf has the lead for developing the briefing package.
