INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NOS. 1, 2, AND 3 - CLOSEOUT OF BULLETIN 2007-01 "SECURITY OFFICER ATTENTIVENESS" (TAC NOS.
MD7609 AND MD7610)
Dear Sir or Madam:
On December 12, 2007, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Bulletin 2007 01, "Security Officer Attentiveness" (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML073400150).
Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc (the licensee) provided a response, dated February 11, 2008 (ADAMS Accession No. ML080510585), to Bulletin 2007-01. The NRC staff reviewed the licensee's response for Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 1, 2, and 3 (IP1, IP2, and IP3), and identified a need for additional information. The NRC staff issued a Request for Additional Information (RAI) to the licensee on July 8,2008 (ADAMS Accession No. ML081840450). The licensee provided a response to the RAI on August 11, 2008 (ADAMS Accession 1\\10. ML082320809), which included detailed descriptions of the administrative and managerial controls to deter and address inattentiveness and complicity among licensee security personnel at IP1, IP2, and IP3. Due to the sensitivity of the subject matter, some responses contain Security-Related Information and are not publicly available.
The NRC staff has reviewed the submitted information and has concluded that the response to Bulletin 2007-01 and the subsequent RAI is adequate for IP1, IP2, and IP3. The bases for the NRC's conclusion have been documented in a memorandum, "Security Bulletin 2007-01, Security Officer Attentiveness: Summary Report" (ADAMS Accession No. ML093440311).
Based on this review,Bulletin 2007-01 will be closed and no further action is required.
