CY-OC-120-7004 Revision 2 Page 2 of 18 4.1 Determination of Outside Tank Activity NOTE:

If a tank has been valved out of service and no liquid has been added since the previous analysis, it does not need to be reanalyzed. Verify that any tanks previously out of service are still out of service and have not had any water input or discharged since the last sample data.

4.1.1.

The total activity included in Outside Storage Tanks shall be determined weekly'and will include the following tanks:

1.

Waste Surge Tank HP-T-3

2.

Condensate Storage Tank

3.

Torus Water Storage Tank

4.

Temporary Storage Tanks controlled by CC-AA-1 12, Temporary Configuration Changes.

4.1.2.

RECORD the volume in gallons of each tank sampled.

4.1.3.

If a temporary storage tank is use, then RECORD the Temporary Configuration Change Package.

4.1.4.

PREPARE and COUNT the samples for gamma activity.

4.1.5.

COUNT each sample for the appropriate amount of time, e.g. normally 1000 sec. for gamma.

4.1.6.

For each tank ADD the individual nuclide concentrations that were detected, exclusive of tritium, noble gases and those, isotopes with half-lives shorter than three days.,

4.1.7.

ENTER the total concentration in gCi/mL for each tank in the appropriate location on.

4.1.8.

Using Attachment 5, CALCULATE the total activity in RxCi for each tank and ADD them together to obtain the total outside tank activity.

4.1.9.

If the outside tank activity is > 5 Ci (five Curies), then NOTIFY the Chemistry Supervisor, or in his absence, the Operations Supervisor and which tank is responsible for the majority of the activity. See Attachment 1.
