CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT 1 - CORRECTION OF TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION PAGE NO. 3.7-43 ISSUED WITH AMENDMENT NO. 190 REGARDING CHANGES TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR MAIN STEAM ISOLATION VALVES (TAC NO. MD8006)
Dear Mr. Heflin:
On January 27,2009, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff issued Amendment No. 190 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-30 for Callaway Plant, Unit 1. The document was declared in the NRC Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at ADAMS Accession No. ML090020064.
Amendment No. 190 revised the Technical Specifications (TS) by adding new conditions on the control room envelope (CRE) habitability program, revising the requirements related to the CRE habitability in TS 3.7.10, "Control Room Emergency Ventilation System (CREVS)," and establishing a CRE habitability program in TS Section 5.5, "Administrative Controls - Programs and Manuals."
By letter dated October 28, 2009 (ADAMS Accession No. ML093020527), Union Electric Company, the licensee for Callaway Plant, Unit 1, informed NRC that a typographical error has been identified in TS 3.7.18 as a deletion of the symbol "IJ" from the units given for the value of the specific activity limit specified in TS Surveillance Requirement (SR) 3.7.18.1. The licensee stated that the error was initially introduced in the TS pages provided for Amendment No. 172, dated June 16, 2006 (ADAMS Accession No. ML060810181), and was carried into Amendment No. 190, when the licensee discovered the error.
The NRC staff has reviewed the licensee's request and determined that the error was caused in the licensee-supplied revised pages for Amendment No. 172 to address resolution of pagination problems in Microsoft Word, and anomalies due to the software conversion of TS files from Microsoft Word to Adobe FrameMaker.
Accordingly, TS page 3.7-43 has been corrected to restore the symbol "IJ" to SR 3.7.18.1.
Please withdraw the existing TS page 3.7-43, replace it with the enclosed corrected page, and discard the withdrawn incorrect page 3.7-43.
