Document Control Desk Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Unit Nos. 1 & 2; Docket Nos. 50-317 & 50-318 Supplement to License Amendment Request - Transition from Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel to AREVA Nuclear Fuel (a)

Letter from Mr. T.E. Trepanier (CCNPP) to Document Control Desk (NRC), dated November 23, 2009, License Amendment Request -

Transition from Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel to AREVA Nuclear Fuel (b)

Letter from Mr.D. V. Picket (NRC) to Mr. G.H. Gellrich (CCNPP), dated January 11, 2010, Acceptance Review for License Amendment Request to Transition to AREVA Fuel Reference (a) submitted a license amendment request that would modify the licensing basis and the Technical Specifications to allow the use of AREVA Advanced CE-14 High Thermal Performance fuel in the Calvert Cliffs reactors. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission provided the preliminary results of their acceptance review in Reference (b).

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff determined that the license amendment request needed to be supp lemented in order for the staff to make an independent assessment regarding the acceptability of the proposed request.

Specifically, the staff requested that a listing of the safety evaluation conditions, limitations and restrictions be provided, and document how compliance with each is attained and confirmed for each new methodology proposed for reference in the Core Operating Limits Report.

Attachment (1) provides the requested information. The information in this attachment supersedes any similar information contained in Reference (a). This supp lemental information does not impact the No Significant Hazards Determination discussion in Reference (a).
