SUMMARY
OF DECEMBER 1, 2009, PRE-APPLICATION MEETING WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY REGARDING PROPOSED ALLOWED OUTAGE TIME ONE-TIME EXTENSION FOR THE CHILLER UPGRADE PROJECT
Dear Mr. Swafford:
The purpose of this letter is to document Tennessee Valley Authoritys (TVAs) revised schedule for submitting a proposed allowed outage time (AOT) one-time extension amendment request for a chiller upgrade project at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant (WBN), Unit 1.
In a public meeting on December 1, 2009 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML093360557), TVA informed the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission that it planned to submit the proposed amendment request by December 18, 2009.
However, on December 23, 2009, Mr. Kevin Casey of your staff informed me via telephone that TVA would not be submitting the proposed AOT one-time extension amendment request for a chiller upgrade project at WBN Unit 1 on December 18, 2009, as originally intended. Instead, Mr. Casey informed me that the proposed amendment request would be submitted on Friday, January 15, 2010.
We request that you adhere to your revised schedule to ensure that the NRC staff can complete its review consistent with your need and without adversely affecting its other ongoing licensing activities related to both WBN Units 1 and 2.
