Suject: Today's tour - Friday, May 22 tside of Scope Eleven people attended, and all but two were local folks. Only Dan Van Pelt and his legislative assistant were at the state level. Three of the group were from the Ocean County Health Department, and two were from the Lacey Township Municipal Water Authority. The tour group was not antagonistic, and the MUA in particular, felt that it was better armed with answers.

The questions the group asked were probing, but thoughtful. They wanted to know how the pipe failed - from the Inside or out - and understood that the tritiated water was at 20 feet, hundreds of feet above the aquifers used for drinking water.

Two officials from the Health Dept. were impressed by the amount of work that we had done so quickly to address the issue.

One question that we did not have the answer to was: "How many gallons are in the plume?"

Even though that question couldn't be answered fully, the folks in the group seemed satisfied that we are competently addressing the issue, and keeping the right people informed.
