- NON EMERGENCY "On October 9, 2009, at 2323 PDT, SCE [Southern California Edison]
discovered a live green sea turtle in the Unit 3 Intake Structure. SCE will notify the National Marine Fisheries Service that a live green sea turtle was discovered in the SONGS Unit 3 Intake Structure. The sea turtle was safely removed from the Intake Structure and will be returned to the Pacific Ocean.
"SCE is reporting this event in accordance with 10CFR50.72(b)(2)(xi).
"At the time of this report, Unit 2 was in Mode 6 in a planned refueling outage, and Unit 3 was in Mode 1 operating at about 100 percent power."
The licensee has notified the NRC Resident Inspector.
Notified R4DO (Campbell) and the Endangered Species Group (via e-mail).
