Dear Commissioner Mauriello:
This is a follow up to our April 21, 2009 and May 6, 2009 letters ruqu briefing regarding the discovery of tritium in a cable vault at the Oyster Crec Facility as soon as your Department's investigation is completed. The preliminar provided which we, in turn, made available to our constituency, was greatly apprec.iated.
jo, We write today regarding a recently published report in the media that the .NueI K*.eiA' Commission (NRC) is still determining whether or not to release to the public the root-ca.so annlYSi4. as to the cause of the tritium contamination at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station., Plewe, be advised that our Delegation has written NRC Chairman Gregory B. Jaczko calling for 'the :irnmendiat release of this analysis. Enclosed, please find a copy of our letter to Chairman Jaczko.
Our purposo in writing to you today is to urge the Department to also support ',th,ý[ -e;iý ofIthe tritium release analysis. Given that the analysis pertains to public health and safety,-.we :.liat ' ftill disclosure in this matter is absolutely necessary and that the general public is entitled to ths',iri fo ton.
Additionally, we hope it is the intention of the Department to release all documents and naterials related to its investigation of the incident.
We understand that the Department is still in the process of conducting itsownjinvctigaion.. As you will recall, our Delegation requested that, as the part of it's investigation, the Department analyze if the testing (monitoring) wells at the Oyster Creek facility were sufficient to identify a As an addendum to our initial request, we are also asking that the Department examine the -Piotelsc ¢dule maintained by nuclear generating facilities irf the state for testing the on-site and off-site mionitb ing wells to determine if they are sufficient.
