Dear Governor Corzine:

In response to recently published media reports, this communication is toqappr'*syOU..thatpour Delegation has written to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) calling for the immedia*.releaseof the root-cause analysis in relation to the tritium contamination at the Oyster-Creek Nudtar G eneratniftg Station. Accordingly, we have written to President Bxrack Obama as well as NRC Chair="Gregoir B.

Jaczko, calling for the release of this information. Both letters have been enclosed for your convenient review and reference.

It is our understanding that the NRC has a time-frame of six weeks to decidei4;6t6ber ot tb make this information public. We strongly believe that the contents of the analysis shotl4bq:*co=s dm=

public information and, therefore, released in a timely fashion in the interest of transparen.cy. Fromw'our point of view, the analysis should be made available for review by the very people ,*'ci`e*ealib and safety it is the NRC's obligation to protect. Since a critical aspect of the initial investigatfinwaswhether there was groundwater contamination resulting from the tritium release, we do not understad :how the NRC could reach a conclusion that this information should be kept confidential.

Our Delegation is requesting that your Administration also call for the release' of ,Wthif6rmation by the NRC. It is our understanding from media reports that the owner and operator0 o.tta'strCreek facility, Exelon, is already in possession of the report. With the full weight of the Govei-nor's".Office; the NRC may be inclined to decide to fully disclose the information contained in the analysis foi.reMviWby the general public and, perhaps, earlier than the six week time-frame.

We would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that we have writtento4i6-*NVJersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) as a follow up to our prior communicatjon ' ifi-im release incident. In our letter to Commissioner Mauriello, which has also been enclosed;r', ere**usfed that in addition to the Department examining whether or not Oyster Creek's monitoring ,wels were sufficient to identify a tritium release, we also requested an examination of the periodic. schedule maintained by nuclear generating facilities in the state for testing on-site and off-site monitoring wells.
