Subject:

EXELON proposal re: Oyster Creek tritium root cause and corrective actions Pam Cowan called (after trying to reach John White and Darrell) to discuss the licensee's thoughts on addressing the stakeholder interest in the root causes of the groundwater and CST piping issues at Oyster Creek. Their proposal is based in part on being responsive to the State Legislators' interest, as expressed in the letter from State Senator Connors, and State Assemblymen Bumpf and Van Pelt to Chairman Jaczko.

The licensee staff proposal is that the licensee will provide a list of the root causes and corrective actions to the State, with copies to the State Legislators. The licensee proposal does not include releasing the root cause report itself.

This proposal is still pre-decisional on their part, as they need to vett this with their corporate management.

Pam also asked if we were planning to release the report, or if there was strong feeling that Exelon should release the report. I told her that we were not in possession of the report, as we reviewed it on site as part of an inspection, and thus were not in a position to release the report. I also explained that we had no views on whether or not the licensee should release the report itself Pam will provide an update of their plans to the residents.

ACTION: Ron - please ensure they are aware of the licensee's plans, and ask them for forward any additional information they receive from the licensee to you for further dissemination.

Jim
