Reg.23,254 (May 18, 2009) (Docket ID NRC-2008-0122) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)guidance published in 74 Fed. Reg. 23,219, 23,220, 23,221, 23,198 (Docket ID FEMA-2008-0022) regarding Emergency Planning and Preparedness Ladies and Gentlemen:
Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC), the licensed operator for the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant and the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, has reviewed the proposed enhancements to emergency preparedness regulations as published in 74 Fed. Reg. 23,254; May 18, 2009. In addition, SNC has reviewed the related draft guidance documents proposed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published in 74 Fed. Reg. 23,219, 23,220, 23,221, 23,198. The nuclear industry, through the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), has prepared a comprehensive comment document for the regulatory issues identified in the proposed rulemaking and the associated guidance documents.
