. JUL 29 1968 LICENSE A!,'IENDMENT for DELIVERY OF SPECIAL NUCLEAR MATERIAL to a CARRIER FOR TRANSPORT
-:rsuant to the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 and Title 10, Code of Federal Reg-ulations, Chapter 1, Part 70V and Part 71, the following amendment to tho special nuclear material license identified below is hereby issued, authorizing the licensee to deliver special nuclear material to a carrier Lor transport, and is subject to the conditions specified in that license and to the conditions spedified below.

Description NPD-l-528 Containment vessel consists of a 10-inch diameter Schedule 40 steel pipe, 81-inches long, with bolted flange closures and leaktight gaskets.
Five such containment vessels are supported by 15-inch steel channels to form a planar module.
Container constructed in accordance with the details shown on Kerr-McGee. Drawing No. NPD-l-528, Rev.
1, and subject to the following modification:
Wihen used for high density U02 pellets and the U-235 enrichment exceeds 2 w/o, each containment vessel shall be modified by inserting an 81-inch length of 8-inch diameter Schedule 20 steel pipe into the 10-inch Schedule 40 pipe.

Maximum quantity of material per package Uranium oxide, enriched to a. maximum 5 w/o in the U-235 isotope, as high density pellets, or dry bulk powder with a maximum 11/U atomic ratio not to exceed I considering all sources of hydrogenous material within the containment vessel.
Four hundred and fifty (450) pounds of dry U02 powder per containment vessel and 2250 pounds per module or for U02 pellets including the weight of steel pipe inserts and product con-tainers:
500 pounds per containment vessel and -2500 pounds per module.

Fissile Class III (1) Maximum number of packages per shipment for Class III Three modules fastened together in a planar array with connectors specified in Drawing NPD-I-528, Rev.
- 1. In addition, up to five (5) empty OR-30A UF6 cylinders, containing a maximum heel of ten (10) pounds UF6, within the protective structural package may be included in the Class III shipment.
- 6.
The flange bolt torque shall be a minimum of 220 ft-lbs.
- 7. This amendment supersedes, in its entirety, Amendment No.
71-2 to Special Nuclear Material License No.
SN'--928, dated November 3, 1966.
