SUBJECT:

WATTS BAR NUCLEAR STATION - OFFICE OF INVESTIGATIONS CASE NUMBER 2-2008-057

Dear Mr. Swafford:

Enclosed for your information is the synopsis of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

Office of Investigations= (OI) completed report regarding the failure to conduct physical pat-down searches during the monitoring of X-Ray machines at the protected area entry checkpoint at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, and as to whether a former PGS Security Supervisor willfully failed to take action regarding the alleged misconduct.

OI did not substantiate that PGS security officers willfully failed to conduct physical pat-down searches during the monitoring of X-Ray machines at the protected area entry checkpoint at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. It was also unsubstantiated that a former PGS Security Supervisor willfully failed to take action regarding the alleged misconduct. Accordingly, enforcement action is not warranted, and we plan no further actions with regard to this matter. Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact us.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS).
