SUMMARY
OF THE JULY 15, 2009, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2008 DAVIS-BESSE END-OF-CYCLE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On July 15, 2009, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, Ohio. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company representatives to discuss the NRCs 2008 End-of Cycle Assessment of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant's safety performance. The results of that assessment were discussed in a letter to the licensee dated March 4, 2009 (ADAMS ML090630180).
The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRCs goal and the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). This was followed by a summary of the NRCs assessment of Davis-Besse performance in 2008 and NRC Plans for 2009. The NRCs meeting presentation slides can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML092020297. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the attached enclosure.
The licensee then provided its perspective on the NRCs assessment. The licensees meeting presentation handout can be found in ADAMS as ML092020287.
At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials.
