Document Control Desk Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit No. 1; Docket No. 50-220 Special Report: Containment Channel 11 Inoperable High Range Radiation Monitor Instrumentation In accordance with Action 3 of Nine Mile Point Unit 1 (NMPI) Technical Specification (TS) Table 3.6.11-2, "Accident Monitoring Instrumentation Action Statements," Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) is submitting the following Special Report concerning inoperability of Containment High Range Radiation Monitor Instrumentation Channel 11.

Description of Event On June 29, 2009, at 0838, Containment High Range Radiation Monitor Instrumentation, Channel 11, (TS Table 3.6.11-1, Item 7) was declared inoperable in support of planned maintenance to replace a degraded mode switch.

The redundant channel of Containment High Range Radiation Monitor Instrumentation, Channel 12, was operable during the period Channel 11 was inoperable.

Cause oflnoperabilit The cause for the Containment High Range Radiation Monitor Instrumentation Channel II being inoperable was planned maintenance to replace a degraded mode switch.

Action Taken Following replacement of the degraded mode switch and recalibration, the Containment High Range Radiation Monitor Instrument Channel 11 was declared operable on June 30, 2009, at 1109.
