By letter dated October 1, 2008, Arizona Public Service Company (APS) requested a one-time, five-year extension to each of the current 10-year intervals for the performance of the Containment Integrated Leakage Rate Test at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS), Units 1, 2 and 3. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed your amendment request and has determined that the information specified in the attached Request for Additional Information (RAI) is needed so that the staff can complete its safety evaluation.
In our telephone discussion on June 24, 2009, you indicated that APS had reviewed the draft RAIs and did not need further clarification. In order for the NRC staff to complete its review in a timely manner, you are requested to submit your response to the attached RAIs no later than July 31, 2009.
