BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) - UNIT 2 - WITHDRAWAL OF PROPOSED REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM 10CFR50.55a, AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS (ASME) SECTION XI, INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM FOR THE THIRD TEN-YEAR INSPECTION INTERVAL- REQUEST FOR RELIEF 2-ISI-22 By letter dated May 18, 2009, to NRC from R. G. West, BFN proposed an alternative to the requirements of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Case N-504-3, Alternative Rules for Repair of Classes 1, 2, and 3 Austenitic Stainless Steel Piping.

The purpose of this letter is to withdraw the above referenced request for relief from 10 CFR 50.55a (a)(3)(i). The flaw did not penetrate the pressure boundary during welding operations therefore, the hydrostatic test is not required for this flaw.

BFN respectfully requests that the subject request for relief, 2-ISI-22, be withdrawn.
