SUMMARY

OF THE APRIL 29, 2009, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2008 POINT BEACH END-OF-CYCLE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On April 29, 2009, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Two Creeks Town Hall in Two Creeks, Wisconsin. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and NextEra Energy Point Beach, LLC representatives to discuss the NRCs 2008 End-of-Cycle Assessment of the Point Beach Nuclear Plants safety performance. The results of that assessment were discussed in a letter to the licensee dated March 4, 2009, (ADAMS ML090630351).

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC, the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), national ROP results, and the Action Matrix. This was followed by a summary of the NRCs assessment of Point Beach performance in 2008. The NRCs meeting presentation slides can be found in ADAMS at ML091200734. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the attached Enclosure.

Following the NRCs presentation, the licensee discussed its efforts to make sustained improvements in its longstanding substantive cross-cutting issues in the human performance and problem identification and resolution areas. In addition, the licensee briefly spoke on its efforts taken in response to a nuclear safety culture survey conducted in 2008. The licensees presentation slides can be found in ADAMS at ML091200704.
