Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit Nos. 1 and 2; Docket Nos. 50-220 and 50-410 Renewal of 10 CFR Part 71 Quality Assurance Program Approval for Radioactive Material Packages In accordance with 10 CFR 71.38(b), Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) hereby requests renewal of our 10 CFR Part 71 Quality Assurance Program Approval for Radioactive Material Packages, Docket No. 71-0045. As stated in the current program approval (Approval No. 0045, Revision 7 - copy enclosed), the application of the 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B Quality Assurance Program, as applied to activities under 10 CFR Part 71, is limited to procurement, maintenance, repair, and use of packaging for shipment of radioactive materials. Design, fabrication, assembly, and modification of components of packaging, such as shipping casks, are not and will not be conducted under this quality assurance program.

This approval is issued to satisfy the requirements of Section 71.101 of 10 CFR Part 71. 6. CONDITIONS
1. Activities conducted with regard to transportation packagings under applicable criteria of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50 authorized by this approval: procurement, maintenance, repair, and use. All other activities (i.e., design, fabrication, assemblesting, and modification) shall be satisfied by obtaining certifications from packaging suppliers thaa;ahdse activities were conducted in accordance with an NRC-approved Qualit rance Program.
