SUMMARY

OF THE APRIL 16, 2009, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2008 LASALLE COUNTY STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, END-OF-CYCLE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On April 16, 2009, a public meeting was held at the Brookfield Township Hall, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and LaSalle County Station staff. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss NRCs assessment of LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2 performance for the period of January 1, 2008, through December 31, 2008.

During the NRC presentation, an overall assessment of LaSalle County Stations performance was provided. As explained in the Annual Assessment letter from NRC to you dated March 4, 2009, (ADAMS Accession Number ML090630131), LaSalle County Station operated in a manner that preserved public health and safety, and fully met all cornerstone objectives.

Following our presentation, Mr. David Rhoades, Plant Manager LaSalle County Station, discussed major milestones that occurred during the past year at LaSalle as well as those scheduled for 2009. These milestones included unit refueling outages, installation of a digital rod control management system on both units, and the initiation of dry cask storage on-site this summer. Mr. Rhoades also promoted the large number of community service projects sponsored by Exelon and specifically those where station members directly participate.

Before adjourning the meeting, the NRC provided the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions. Two members of the community asked several questions ranging over a number of topics including dry cask storage at LaSalle, the liquid and gaseous effluent release program, and the status of a license amendment for criticality control in the Unit 2 spent fuel pool.

The meeting attendance list is enclosed. The slides presented by the NRC are available in ADAMS (Accession Number ML091110266). Please contact me at (630) 829-9629, if there are any questions you have about this meeting.
