OF THE APRIL 2009 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OPEN-HOUSE PUBLIC MEETING On April 7, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., the NRC conducted an Annual Assessment Open-House Meeting at the Holiday Inn Express in Prince Fredrick, MD. The NRC conducted the open-house meeting to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant for the calendar year 2008.
A notice of the open-house meeting was issued on March 24, 2009, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page (ADAMS Accession No. ML090830389).
The NRC presented poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2008, as documented in our letter dated March 4, 2009 (ADAMS Accession No. ML090630587). The NRC poster boards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.
A number of local officials, Constellation employees and members of the public attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Constellations performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
