CRYSTAL RIVER 3 ROD EJECTION UNDER EPU CONDITIONS (ME0730)

Dan, The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has assessed the submittal by Florid Power Corporation, dated February 26, 2009, for Crystal River Unit 3 - Licensee Amendment Request
  1. 307, Revision 0, "Methodology for Rod Ejection Accident Analysis under Extended Power Uprate Conditions." The NRC staff performed a cursory review to determine its technical contents and sufficiency. The staff finds the submittal is adequately detailed and includes sufficient discussion on methods validation to warrant a review. The NRC staff has determined that the submittal is acceptable for detailed technical review under LIC-109. If additional information is needed for the NRC staff to complete its technical review, you will be advised by separate correspondence.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (301) 415-1447.

Respectfully, Farideh E. Saba, P.E.
