BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2-WITHDRAWAL OF AN AMENDMENT REQUEST REGARDING ONE TIME EXTENSION OF SURVEILLANCE REQUIREMENTS (TAC NO. ME0334) (TS-463-T)

Dear Mr. Swafford:

By letter dated December 22,2008, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) applied for an amendment to the Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-52 for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Unit 2. The proposed change would have, on a one-time basis, extended several Technical Specification surveillance frequencies approximately 45 days. Subsequently, by letter dated March 6, 2009, TVA requested to withdraw the amendment request. Based on this request the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will terminate its review of the proposed change and close TAC No. ME0334.

The Commission has filed the enclosed Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendment to Facility Operating License with the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

7590-01-P UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-260 NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION FOR AMENDMENT TO RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has granted the request of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA, the licensee) to withdraw its December 22,2008, application for proposed amendment to Facility Ope'rating License No. DPR-52 for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Unit 2, located in Limestone County, Alabama.

The proposed amendment would, on a one-time basis, extend several Technical Specification surveillance frequencies approximately 45 days.

The Commission had previously issued a Notice of Consideration of Issuance of Amendment published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on January 27,2009 (74 FR 4775). However, by letter dated March 6, 2009, the licensee withdrew the proposed change.

For further details with respect to this action, see the application for amendment dated December 22, 2008, and the licensee's letter dated March 6, 2009, which withdrew the application for license amendment.
