Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington , DC 20555-0001 Palisades Nuclear Plant Docket 50-255 License No. DPR-20 Revision to Commitment of Examination Frequency for Pressurizer Butt Welds

Dear Sir or Madam:

A Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC, the former license holder) letter, of February 27, 2007 (Accession number ML070590333), listed six new commitments and revised two commitments for the Palisades Nuclear Plant (PNP). The commitments were related to actions that would be taken to address the potential for primary water stress corrosion cracking of applicable pressurizer dissimilar metal butt welds containing Alloy 600/82/182 material. Commitment seven stated:

NMC will inspect the Alloy 600/82/182 pressurizer butt welds per MRP-139

[Electrical Power Research Institute Technical Report, Materials Reliability Program: Primary System Piping Butt Weld Inspection and Evaluation Guidelines (MRP-1 39), dated August 2005], on a frequency of at least every four years, until the Alloy 600/82/182 pressurizer butt welds are mitigated or removed at PNP. NMC will notify the NRC in writing prior to making any changes to this commitment.

On March 29, 2007, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued CAL NRR-07-023, "Confirmatory Action Letter - Palisades Nuclear Plant (TAC No. MD4168)," (Accession number ML070800449) confirming the new and revised commitments made on February 27, 2007, by NMC. The CAL required notifying the NRC if for any reason the actions and commitments cannot be completed within the specified schedule and advising the NRC in writing of the modified schedule in advance of the change.

By this letter, ENO is advising the NRC of a revision to commitment number seven in the February 27, 2007, letter. This commitment revision will change the four-year examination schedule for volumetric examination of Category "D" pressurizer butt welds, to the MRP-1 39 guideline examination schedule of no longer than five years.

Revised commitment seven is as follows:

Document Control Desk Page 2 Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. will inspect the Alloy 600/82/182 pressurizer butt welds in accordance with MRP-139, until the Alloy 600/82/182 pressurizer butt welds are mitigated or removed at PNP. The NRC will be notified in writing prior to making any changes to this commitment.

Summary of Commitments This letter contains a revision to an existing commitment. There are no new commitments. As stated above, revised commitment seven is:

Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. will inspect the Alloy 600/82/182 pressurizer butt welds in accordance with MRP-1 39, until the Alloy 600/82/182 pressurizer butt welds are mitigated or removed at PNP. The NRC will be notified in writing prior to making any changes to this commitment.
