SUMMARY

OF THE JULY 16, 2008, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2007 POINT BEACH END-OF-CYCLE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On July 16, 2008, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Two Creeks Town Hall in Two Creeks, Wisconsin. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and FPL Energy Point Beach, LLC representatives to discuss the NRCs 2007 End-of-Cycle Assessment of the Point Beach Nuclear Plants safety performance. The results of that assessment were discussed in a letter to the licensee dated March 3, 2008 (ADAMS ML080600317). The letter requested that the licensee discuss their actions to address the repetitive substantive cross-cutting issue in human performance at the annual public meeting.

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC, the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), national ROP results, and the Action Matrix. This was followed by a summary of the NRCs assessment of Point Beach performance in 2007. The NRCs meeting presentation slides can be found in ADAMS at ML081990526. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the attached enclosure.

Following the NRCs presentation, the licensee briefly highlighted their intentions to focus on procedure quality and the corrective actions program. The licensees presentation was verbal and did not use slides or handouts.

At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials.
