SITE SECURITY PLAN (TAC L32658)
Dear Mr. Turner:
We have completed our review of the Site Security Plan for GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, LLCs, Vallecitos Nuclear Center that you submitted on November 30, 2007, and your responses dated April 28 and May 19, 2008, to our requests for additional information, dated March 25, 2008, and May 5, 2008, respectively. The Site Security Plan was submitted in accordance with a commitment made by GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, LLC, in a meeting held at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) headquarters on July 11, 2007, to provide a security plan for the special nuclear materials licensed under SNM-960. The security provisions for the materials are contained in a revision to the Site Security Plan for the non-power reactor licensed by R-33.
By review of the submittal, the NRC determined that the Site Security Plan is adequate to protect the material licensed under SNM-960, and that the revisions do not decrease the effectiveness of the reactor Site Security Plan. As we discussed on July 23, 2008, you will incorporate a commitment to the security provisions for the SNM-960 materials in the license renewal application in 2010. License Condition 2.C.(3) of license R-33, Physical Security Plan, continues to apply.
Upon issuance of this letter TAC L32658 will be closed.
