NRC OPERATOR LICENSING INITIAL EXAM RESULTS FOR JAMES A. FITZPATRICK NUCLEAR POWER STATION (Only this cover letter is provided to the public. Enclosures are withheld from the public.)

Dear Mr. Johnson:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the individual examination results for your applicants on the initial written examination conducted on April 14, 2008 and the walk-through (overall) and simulator operating tests administered March 31 - April 8, 2008 at your facility. This meets the intent of Section E.1 of the Examination Standards (ES 501) in NUREG 1021, Revision 9.

Fourteen individuals were administered the examination and twelve passed. We are still evaluating one applicants performance on the operating test. When we are finished with the evaluation we will notify you in writing of the results. This information is considered proprietary" in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 and it supplements the information contained in the related examination report for your facility which will be issued shortly.

In accordance with your Systems Approach to Training (SAT) Program, we expect that you will review these results and provide appropriate remedial training for the individual independent of the overall pass status. The applicants have authorized the release of this information to your facility by signing Block 19A of NRC Form 398.
