PROPOSED STRETCH POWER UPRATE FOR MILLSTONE POWER STATION, UNIT 3
Dear Dr. Shack:
As a result of the 551st meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS or the Committee) on April 10-12, 2008, where the ACRS considered the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) draft safety evaluation of the stretch power uprate application for the Millstone Power Station, Unit 3 (MPS3), I am responding to the ACRS memorandum from Frank Gillespie, Executive Director of the ACRS, to Luis A. Reyes, then NRC Executive Director for Operations, dated April 23, 2008, (Accession No. ML081150091). The Committee decided to review the MPS3 proposed stretch power uprate application. The NRC staff will provide a draft safety evaluation to the Committee by June 13, 2008. The NRC staff requests an ACRS subcommittee meeting on July 8, 2008, and an ACRS full committee meeting on July 9, 2008, for the MPS3 stretch power uprate.
The staff recognizes the Committee=s commitment to safety and appreciates the Committee=s continued support of the power uprate process.
