RECEIPT AND AVAILABILITY OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR THE PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2

Dear Mr. Wadley:

On April 15, 2008, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received the Nuclear Management Company, LLCs application for renewal of operating licenses DPR-42 and DPR-60 for the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2. We are currently performing an acceptance review for docketing in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.101, and will notify you of the results of our review. Should the NRC staff determine that the application is acceptable for docketing, a schedule for the review will then be provided to you.

We have enclosed for your information a copy of the notice relating to your application that is being sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ngoc (Tommy) Le as the project manager for the review of your license renewal application. Please forward copies of all license renewal correspondence to Mr. Le. Mr. Mehash L. Chawla continues to remain responsible for the project management of all issues other than license renewal for Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2.
