ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW OF BOILING WATER REACTORS OWNERS=
GROUP (BWROG) NEDO-33349 REVISION 1, "BWR APPLICATION TO REGULATORY GUIDE 1.97 REVISION 4" (TAC NO. MD6697)
Dear Mr. Bunt:
By letter dated August 31, 2007, the BWROG submitted for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review Topical Report (TR) NEDO-33349, Revision 1, "BWR Application to Regulatory Guide 1.97 Revision 4." The NRC staff has performed an acceptance review of the NEDO-33349, Revision 1. We have found that the material presented is sufficient to begin our comprehensive review. The NRC staff expects to issue its request for additional information by May 12, 2008, and issue its draft safety evaluation by April 30, 2009. The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 600 staff hours including project management time. The review schedule milestones and estimated review costs were discussed and agreed upon in a telephone conference between Michael Iannantuono, Project Manager, and the NRC staff on March 3, 2008.
Section 170.21 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations requires that TRs are subject to fees based on the full cost of the review. You did not request a fee waiver; therefore, NRC staff hours will be billed accordingly.
