OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON FEBRUARY 8, 2008, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS, INC., CONCERNING RESPONSE TO AUDIT ITEM RELATED TO THE INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NOS. 2 AND 3, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATIONCABLE CONNECTIONS The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. held a telephone conference call on February 8, 2008, to obtain clarification on Entergys response to audit item 63 the Indian Point license renewal application (LRA). By letter dated December 18, 2007, Entergy submitted Amendment 1 to the LRA. In response to audit item 63, Entergy stated, Inspection methods may include thermography, contact resistance testing, or other appropriate methods including visual based on plant configuration and industry guidance. The staff requested clarification regarding performing visual inspections instead of using thermography. Entergy stated that plant personnel cannot open the enclosure of an energized bus due to safety concerns. The staff stated that it would be acceptable to perform thermography through the bus enclosure. Based on the staffs clarification, Entergy stated that it will revise the response to audit item 63 after conferring with plant staff and if it would not conflict with any site procedures. Entergy stated that the performance of thermography through the enclosure is not clear in the staffs draft interim staff guidance on cable connections, and that such clarification would be helpful.

The Enclosure provides a listing of the participants.
