To discuss a proposal to transfer Zions 10 CFR Part 50 license and the decommissioning trust fund from Exelon to a subsidiary of Energy Solutions (ES).
ATTENDEES:
See Enclosure 1 DISCUSSION:
Exelon and ES provided a presentation on the proposal to transfer the licensee and decommissioning trust fund of the permanently shutdown Zion Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2 from Exelon to ES. Following the decommissioning, currently scheduled for 10 years, the site property and the spent fuel, which will be transferred to an Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation as part of the decommissioning, and transferred back to Exelon. This proposal will accelerate the schedule for decommissioning from the current Exelon schedule and is expected to reduce the cost.
ACTIONS:
The licensee intends to submit a formal request for the license transfer at the end of January.
